About Us

Welcome to the St George’s CE Primary School
Formerly Christ Church CE Primary School

I hope you find the site interesting and informative. Ofsted in May 2016 judged the school to be Good with many outstanding features. The school was also judged to be an outstanding Church school at its Church inspection (SDBE) in May 2016.

We are proud of our reputation for providing a good quality education within a caring Christian environment. Our school provides a wide range of experiences for all children so that everyone can have success and enjoy coming to school. We aim to encourage a love of learning from an early age, delivering an exciting curriculum. Our children work within high behavioural expectations, as we believe that this is an essential foundation for effective learning. We teach children to value themselves, others, their community and the environment, thinking ahead to our children’s place in the communities of the future. Ofsted stated that the school’s “outstanding spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is helped by a good range of curriculum topics, the school’s positive ethos and the good example set by all adults in the school.”

We are all very proud of our school and its achievements. It is a happy place where the building of self-esteem, independence and responsibility is valued as an important part of a child’s development.

  • We aim to instill a love of learning which children can carry with them throughout their lives.
  • To provide our children with a stimulating learning environment within a Christian ethos, that enables them to develop socially, spiritually and academically to their highest potential and to gain a life-long love of learning.

We intend to achieve this by:

  • Providing a safe, happy, well ordered and stimulating learning environment for the whole school community that provides high quality teaching which will stimulate, motivate and enthuse children to develop to their full potential.
  • Delivering a broad and balanced curriculum: teaching Key Skills, offering extra-curricular activities through which children will explore a wide range of interests that will stimulate their personal development.
