Literacy:  Plan a postcard

We have been in lockdown now for over 3 weeks and I am sure you are all missing family and friends. This week we will be writing postcards.

Today can you plan your postcard.

  • Who are you going to write to?
  • What have you been doing?
  • What are you looking forward to doing after lockdown?
  • What would you like to ask them?

Literacy: Postcard

Write your first draft of your post card to a family member of friend that you miss – INFORMAL writing.

Focus on Tense.

First paragraph about what you have been doing (past tense).

Second paragraph about what you are looking forward to doing (future tense).

Third paragraph – What would you like to ask them?

Remember to sign your postcard so they know who it is from.

Computing

Literacy: Edit your postcard

Read through your writing from yesterday. Edit the punctuation and grammar. Can you add any more detail to make your writing even better?

Science: Heart Rate experiment

Can you predict what will happen to your Heart Rate when the intensity of the exercise changes?

Pick 3-5 different exercises. Predict which exercise your heart rate will be the slowest and when will your heart rate be the fastest?

Why do you think this is?

Do the exercises and record your results – after each exercise find your heart rate and count how many beats in 6 seconds then multiply by 10 to get your BPM (beats per minute).

 Art: Create a Rainbow

Rainbows are being used during lockdown as a symbol for unity, hope and love as well as to show support to the NHS and other key workers. 

Can you create a rainbow?

You can paint or draw one but can you find a creative way to create a rainbow?

You could use colourful clothes, books, Lego or food.
