Literacy:  The Frog Prince Continued

Write your own story- Plan

 

The moral of the Frog Prince Continued, is to appreciate what you have got. The Prince and Princess come to realise this when their situation is threatened.

Has there been a time when you didn’t appreciate something until it was threatened? If you cannot think of something, you can make something up.

Can you plan, using a story map, where the characters have everything they need but then something threatens it.

  •  What were the character’s lives like?
  • What was the problem/person that threatened their happy lives?
  • How did the characters feel? What did they realise? (appreciate what you have got). What are they missing?
  • How do they get their normal lives back?

History: Scientist Timeline

Research about a chosen scientist. Draw a picture of them and write 10 facts about that person around them.

You can choose any scientist throughout history. Here are some suggestions:

Write your own story – Beginning

Use your plans from yesterday to write the beginning of the story. You can choose the tense, but make sure it is consistent throughout.

If you are writing about yourself then write in the first person – I, we

If you are writing about a made-up character, then write in the third person – they

For the beginning make sure you:

  • Introduce the characters
  • Describe the setting
  • What are their daily lives like? What are they doing?
  • Introduce the lead up to the problem

Literacy: Fairy Tales- You Choose

 Write your own story – Middle

Using your plans, continue with your story focusing on the middle.

  • What has threatened the characters?
  • How have the lives of the characters changed?
  • How do they feel about this?
  • What are they missing?

Remember your tense and what person you are writing in!

Science: 

The children will now have access to the Stemscopes science website. This allows us to be able to set work in a similar way to Mymaths. You can log in by following these steps:

1- Initial of first name + surname (If your surname is double barrelled include a space in between)

 2- Password is stgeorges

 3- Some usernames may be followed by the number 1.

Finish your story. How do the characters live happily ever after? (Remember it is based on a fairy tale).

  • How was the problem solved?
  • How do the characters feel now?
  • How do they show their appreciation for what they now have?

Write your own story – Edit

Edit your writing and add a picture to illustrate. 

 Art: Printing

Can you find different objects in your home to print a picture of your choice?

The different mediums you could use: Paint, ink, food colouring, ketchup/mayonnaise. Can you think of anything else you could use?

You could cut shapes into vegetables like potatoes, carrots, apples. Find different textures using orange peel, sponge, a crumpled up plastic bag. 

You could use leaves, coins, Lego, string, your hands and feet.

Let your imagination go wild!
