Literacy: The Green Ship –  Storm Descriptive Writing- Plan

Remind yourself of the story of The Green Ship by Quentin Blake.

Draw a picture of a storm in the middle of a piece of paper.Have the subheadings of the 5 senses; taste, smell, touch, sight and hearing. You can download and print a template here.

Imagine you are in that storm (and using description from last week’s work). Make notes under each heading. Try and be as creative as possible including; similes, metaphors, adjectives and adverbs.

Geography: Spain- Popular Tourist Destinations

Can you research different areas of Spain that are popular tourist destinations? Why?

  • Landscape

Using your plan from yesterday, can you plan paragraphs for a descriptive piece. Imagine you are writing from the first person and you are in the storm.

Literacy: Storm descriptive writing – First draft

Using your plans from Monday and Tuesday, can you write up your descriptions on a storm.

Things to remember:

  •  Using your plans
  • Using adjectives, metaphors, similes, adverbs
  • Writing in the first person
  • Writing in first person
  • Extended Sentences

Science: 

The children will now have access to the Stemscopes science website. This allows us to be able to set work in a similar way to Mymaths. You can log in by following these steps:

1- Initial of first name + surname (If your surname is double barrelled include a space in between)

 2- Password is stgeorges

 3- Some usernames may be followed by the number 1.

If you are still unable to log in after  following these instructions then please email the school office on admin@stgeorges.lewisham.sch.uk and your child’s log in will be sent to you.

Our science focus this term is ‘Rocks and Fossils’. 

How are Rocks used in our daily lives?

Make a poster on the 3 types of rocks and what real life objects will be made out of those rocks.

Edit your writing focusing on:

  • Punctuation
  •  Grammar
  • Spelling

RE: Abraham

 Can you create a mindmap on Abraham?

  • Who is he?
  • Why is he important?
  • What is his story?
  • What was the promise?

What do you think Abraham and Sarah were thinking when God granted them a son? Download a picture to colour and write their thoughts on here.

Literacy: Storm descriptive writing – Write-up in neat

Write up your description in neat. Add a picture of your storm at the bottom.

Remember to:

  • Start from and keep to the margin.
  • Use capital letters and correct punctuation.
  • Write in cursive.
  • Keep your letters and space size consistent.
  • If you make a mistake, don’t scribble just put a line  threw through the middle.
  • Skip a line when starting a new paragraph.

Gaudi, La Sagrada Familia

Antoni Gaudí was a renowned Spanish architect and designer known for his imaginative buildings. Many of the artist’s most famous works, including Güell Park and the Sagrada Família, are located in Barcelona. He once said:

“There are no straight lines or sharp corners in nature. Therefore, buildings must have no straight lines or sharp corners.”

He would often decorate his buildings with marvellous mosaics.

Research the artist, Gaudi.
