Literacy: SPaG- Apostrophes in contractions

What is an apostrophe? When should we use it?

A contraction is when two words have been pushed together to make one word. For example 

instead of saying:

Is not

we can contract the two words together and use

RE: Moses

When Moses saw the Burning Bush, God told him to free the people of Israel and lead them to the promised land.

Imagine you are Moses. Write a diary entry about seeing the burning bush and hearing God’s voice. How would you have felt?

What would your thoughts be about having the enormous responsibility of freeing the people of Israel and taking them to the Promised land?

Remember to:

  • Write in first person
  • Use the correct tense – Past, present or future.
  • Describe what you saw, heard, felt.

Literacy: SPaG – Conjunctions.

Conjunctions are joining words that link together parts of a sentence. There are two types of conjunction – Subordinating and Coordinating.

Science: 

The children will now have access to the Stemscopes science website. This allows us to be able to set work in a similar way to Mymaths. You can log in by following these steps:

1- Initial of first name + surname (If your surname is double barrelled include a space in between)

 2- Password is stgeorges

 3- Some usernames may be followed by the number 1.

If you are still unable to log in after  following these instructions then please email the school office on admin@stgeorges.lewisham.sch.uk and your child’s log in will be sent to you.

 

Our science focus this term is ‘Rocks and Fossils’. 

 

Choose 1 type of fossil and explain in detail how that fossil is formed. Include diagrams.

Literacy: Word class

All words belong to a word class. This depends on the type of word it is and the reason we use it. 

Visit BBC Bitesize to investigate and understand the different types of Word Class.

Possessive Pronouns

This week, you have also learned about conjunctions. Now you know all about the different word classes, see if you can do this word class sort.
