Parent Workshops

Phonics Workshops

On 1st November and 7th November 2019, we ran Phonics Workshops for parents.

The aims of the workshops were to support parents :

— To understand the importance of phonics.

— To get an idea of how phonics is taught in school.

— To understand the progression through phonic phases.

— To be aware of some activities  they can do at home to promote with phonics.

Part of the session was completing some phonics activities alongside their child.

On Thursday 25th February parents in Reception attended a Phonics workshop. They found out more about the teaching and learning of Phonics at St George’s and had an opportunity to try different Phonics activities with their child.

We ran a Singapore Maths workshop for reception parents last term. Lots of parents attended to find out more about how we teach Maths here at St George’s. Each parent received a pack of resources to use at home and had a go with their children during the workshop! Both the children and parents were really keen which was fantastic! Look out for further EYFS, KS1 & KS2 workshops later in the year. November 2015
