St George’s CE Primary School is part of the SDBE Multi Academy Trust. A copy of the Admissions Policy is available below. Admissions to the school including Reception and In-Year are administered through Lewisham Local Authority in accordance with strict admissions criteria; Lewisham Determined Admissions Policy 2020/21. Applications for Nursery places are made directly to St George’s school and are exempt from Lewisham’s co-ordinated admission arrangements.
The Governing Body is responsible for administering all Nursery Applications. Places are for either 30 or 15 funded hours per week. To see if you are eligible for 30 hours of free childcare please check the eligibility criteria here.
Applications can be made at any time after your child’s 2nd birthday. Children can be considered for a place in the school Nursery in the term following their 3rd birthday. Places are for 15 funded hours per week, 3 hours per day, with a limited number of full time places available Monday to Friday. Information regarding full time places is available from the school office.
Morning Places – 8.45am – 11.45am
Afternoon Places – 12.00pm – 3.00pm
Full-time Places – 8.45am – 3.00pm
Application forms are available here or can be obtained from the school office. Once completed the application form should be returned to the school office, along with a copy of your child’s Birth Certificate and Proof of Address to:

If you are applying for a Nursery Foundarion Place, you should also complete and return a Supplementary Application Form. Depending on when you make your child’s application you may be asked to present proof of address again when being considered for a Nursery place. Unsuccessful applicants do not have the right of appeal buy the child’s name can be placed on a waiting list.
Please note that a place in the Nursery does not guarentee a place in the Reception Class. You must apply separately at the appropriate time online to the Local Authority.
Applications for Primary School places are made in accordance with Lewisham’s co-ordinated admission arrangements. Children born between 1st September 2016 and 31st August 2017 are due to start primary school in September 2021.
Applications can be made from 1st September by applying online. The deadline for applications is 11.59pm on Friday 15 January 2021.

Reception Foundation Places’s
Each year, 30 children are admitted to our Reception, 10 of these places are designated as Foundation places to be offered to children who have one or more parents who are faithful and regular worshippers in a Christian Church. In addition to applying directly online through the eadmissions portal and naming St George’s as one of your preferred schools. You must also complete and return directly to the school a supplementary application form endorsed by your priest/minister. Supplementary forms can be found here or obtained from the school office.
The admission criteria for foundation places:
- Attends St George’s Church
- Attends any other CofE Church and live within the Parish boundary
- Attends another church which is affiliated with and lives within the parish; Churches together in England, Evangelical Alliance.
The deadline for receipt of supplementary application forms is 11.59pm on Friday 15th January 2021.
National offer day is 16th April 2021. Online applicants will get the result via email. You will need to accept your offer directly with the Local Authority by logging into your eadmissions account.
The Governing Body are aware of the Government’s new paper relating to deferred entry into Reception. You are strongly advised to seek further information from the Local Authority offering a reception place to you child should you wish to consider deferring your child’s place. Please note that the school will deal with each case on a 1:1 basis.
IN YEAR ADMISSIONS
Once the school year has started Lewisham Local Authority co-ordinates all in-year admissions including places in years 1-6 and reception.
Lewisham Admissions are no longer issuing paper applications for children wishing to transfer school in-year. Applications for all in-year transfers must be made to Lewisham – https://schools.lewisham.gov.uk/parentportal/.
You will need to provide Lewisham with:
Section 9 – This will need to be completed, signed and stamped by your child’s headteacher. Without this section your application will not be considered as complete. (This does not apply if your child is new to the UK or has been previously educated abroad).
Proof of Address – A copy of one of the following documents as proof of your child’s address:
- Your current council tax bill
- Your tenancy agreement
- Your proof of house purchase (if within the last 6 months)
- If you are living with a family member you will need to provide a copy of their council tax bill, along with a letter stating that you and your child are living with them at the address on the council tax bill
- Doctors registration letters for both parent and child at the address on the council tax bill
- A bank statement addressed to the parent at the address on the application
Proof of Parental Responsibility – A copy of one of the following documents addressed to you and including your child’s details:
- Child tax credit letter
- Child benefit letter
- In the acsence of these, a copy of the child’s birthda certificate which includes the parents’ names is also acceptable
Providing your application is complete and includes the relevant proof, a letter will be sent from Lewisham Admissions via email within 20 school days of the date they received your application to let you know the outcome. Lewisham Admission will inform the school of any offers made.
The Local Authority holds the waiting list for these year groups.
