Curious about cubes!

Year 5 enjoyed learning about cube numbers in maths this week!

As part of our multiplication and division unit, Year 5 have learnt about multiples, factors and square numbers. This week, children used multi-link cubes to investigate cube numbers.

Our maths subject vision is:

Be fluent.

Be systematic.

Be a problem-solver.

Children have been improving their fluency by building on their multiplication and division facts. They were systematic, checking if different numbers of mutli-link cubes could make a cube and problem-solved when completing their workbook practice.

First, children used the concrete resources to begin to understand what cube numbers are, then moved to using pictorial and abstract representations in their workbooks. Check out some of the challenges they completed too!
