Grab the Monet and let's Gogh!

On Wednesday, we hosted the Art Leads of the SDBE MAT in the St George's Art Room and we were getting crafty!

As the joke goes:

Why can't you trust an artist?

Because they're shady, a little sketchy, and they'll always try to frame you!

Well, on Wednesday, we hosted the Art Leads of the SDBE MAT in the St George's Art Room and we were getting crafty!

The topic was Developing Sketchbooks and Mixed Media using Digital Tools delivered by the fabulous Amy Bairstow.

As we here at St George's have successfully implemented Sketchbooks as one of the first within the MAT, AND are one of the very few primary schools with a dedicated Art Room, the subject leads travelled from all over London to come and see what we have achieved. This was the perfect opportunity to showcase the children's fantastic Art work from Year 1 to Year 6, and to provide inspiration to our colleagues on how and why we use Sketchbooks.

There was lots of wonderful feedback about our Sketchbooks, school displays and Art Room, including how "they allow the children to express creativity", "It is a space where I want to create" and "Art is clearly prioritised here".

It was generally agreed that our work fully encompasses our Art Vision Statement to:

Be creative.

Be proficient.

Be reflective.

as well as the elements desired by the MAT.

What a wonderful way to start our ArtsMark journey with inspiration and partnerships in creativity!
