Curriculum Vision Statement

Be brave. Be great. Be you.

We are fun. We are together.undefined

Intent

Our intent is to deliver the content of the national curriculum augmented with powerful knowledge carefully selected to build upon our pupils’ starting points of cultural capital.

To this end, our curriculum follows a knowledge-engaged progress model. We have clearly outlined the key knowledge and vocabulary for each stage of learning in sequence.

The knowledge and representation in our curriculum has been deliberately chosen and adapted in order for pupils to see themselves in the curriculum and prepare them for life in modern Britain.

Implementation

Our curriculum is implemented using ten principles of effective instruction outlined in our Teaching Touchstones, which work in symbiosis with the Gradual Release Towards Independence model for teaching.

Impact

undefined

The impact of our curriculum is directly aligned to our vision and culture statements.

We say to our pupils:

Be brave:

This means we want our pupils to:

  • be courageous advocates who fight social injustices.

  • have seized opportunities outside of their current experiences.

  • show the learner qualities: persist and growth mindset.

Be great:

This means we want our pupils to:

  • achieve well academically.

  • be ready for the next stage of learning and life.

  • fulfil their potential.

  • have developed a broad vocabulary and be able to communicate with a wide range of people and communities.

  • acquire powerful knowledge and use it.

  • gain cultural capital.

  • show the learner qualities: curious and reflect.

Be you:

This means we want our pupils to:

  • know their voice is important and listen to other’s too.

  • be proud of the cultural capital they bring to the wider community.

  • take responsibility for their actions.

  • show the learner qualities: self-aware.

We are fun. We are together:

This means we want our pupils to:

  • be physically fit.

  • have strategies to look after their mental health.

  • show empathy and act well.

  • live well and disagree well.

  • celebrate diversity.

  • show the learner qualities: connect and use feedback.
