Our Value of the month: FRIENDSHIP

Dear St. George's families,

We wish you a warm welcome back and hope the summer break has you feeling refreshed and ready for another great academic year at St George's.

We have started the year with great news. For the fourth year in a row, we have achieved the School Games Gold accreditation, which verifies the high quality sporting opportunities our pupils receive.

As we have achieved the Gold award the required amount of times, we are now qualified to pursue the Platinum Award this year. Watch this space for updates on that! A big thank you to Miss Michell, who leads PE at St George's, for her ongoing hard work across all areas of physical development at St George's.

Please make sure you check the upcoming dates section of this newsletter as we have now updated the school calendar on our website with nearly all of the important dates for the year ahead. A link to the School Calendar is also provided in the upcoming dates section of this newsletter.

One date you will not want to miss is your child's Start of the Year Parent's Meeting. This is an important meeting, where you will visit your child's classroom, meet their teacher, and be given important information about the year ahead, including curriculum timetables, details about national exams, and information on home learning. Please note that these meetings take place at pick-up time. On that day, pupils will remain in class and parents will go to the classroom instead of the normal pick-up place. Please make a note of the dates below.

As ever, we wish you the very best of weekends, full of rest and fun, ready for learning on Monday.

Mr Janes

Attendance

At St Georges's, our culture statement says:

We are fun. We are together.

Being together means attending school regularly. This year, we have set a challenging target for attendance to be in line with pre-Covid levels. Each week we will publish our attendance in this newsletter. Please contribute by ensuring your child is in school, not missing out on learning.

This week's average attendance: 95.97%
Highest class attendance of the week: Tull Class - 100%
Academic year's average attendance: 95.24%
Our target for the year: 97.00%

We are proud to say that we have now been awarded two attendance certificates. We have been in the top 25% of similar schools for attendance in both the Autumn and Spring terms!
