Our Value of the month: FRIENDSHIP

Dear St. George's families,

It has been great having our Year 6 pupils back at the end of the week, following their residential trip. The pupils all came back buzzing with exciting stories. They will have the chance to share their adventure in the upcoming weeks as they will lead an assembly to let all the school know about the fun they had. Before then, look out for a news story in next week's newsletter to see how they got on.

Next week, we are looking forward to seeing you all attend your child's Start of the Year Parent's Meeting. This is an important meeting, where you will visit your child's classroom, meet their teacher, and be given important information about the year ahead, including curriculum timetables, details about national exams, and information on home learning.

Please note that these meetings take place at pick-up time. On that day, pupils will remain in class and parents will go to the classroom instead of the normal pick-up place. We will provide a 'creche' for the time of the meeting, where you can drop off siblings and younger children so that all of your attention can be on the content of the meeting.

Please also make a note of the upcoming reading cafés if you are a family member of a child in Reception or Year One. It is a chance to find out how we teach phonics at St George's and how you can support your child at home.

As ever, we wish you the very best of weekends, full of rest and fun, ready for learning on Monday.

Mr Janes

Attendance

At St Georges's, our culture statement says:

We are fun. We are together.

Being together means attending school regularly. This year, we have set a challenging target for attendance to be in line with pre-Covid levels. Each week we will publish our attendance in this newsletter. Please contribute by ensuring your child is in school, not missing out on learning.

This week's average attendance: 95.21%
Highest class attendance of the week: Tull Class - 100%
Academic year's average attendance: 95.01%
Our target for the year: 97.00%

We are proud to say that we have now been awarded two attendance certificates. We have been in the top 25% of similar schools for attendance in both the Autumn and Spring terms of the 2023-24 academic year!
