Our Value of the month: REFLECTION

Dear St. George’s families,

Happy New Year and welcome to our first newsletter of 2025! We’ve had a fantastic start to the spring term, and it’s been wonderful to see the children settle back into their routines with such enthusiasm.

This week, our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils began their ukulele lessons with an expert teacher. The sound of music is already filling the school, and we’re excited to see how their skills develop over the coming weeks.

Looking ahead, please remember that parent evenings are happening next week. If you haven’t already, make sure you’ve booked your slot—it’s a vital opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and next steps with their teacher.

We also have plenty to look forward to this term. Year 1 parents are invited to join us for our Reading Café to learn more about the phonics screening test and how to support their children. We’re also preparing for Safer Internet Week, where pupils will explore key lessons on staying safe online. To top it all off, the Parent Association cake sale is planned for the final week of this half term—a perfect way to end the term on a sweet note!

Make sure to check the dates below so you don’t miss out on these exciting events. Thank you, as always, for your support. Here’s to a brilliant start to the new year!

Warm regards,

Mr Janes

Attendance

At St Georges's, our culture statement says:

We are fun. We are together.

Being together means attending school regularly. This year, we have set a challenging target for attendance to be in line with pre-Covid levels. Each week we will publish our attendance in this newsletter. Please contribute by ensuring your child is in school, not missing out on learning.

This week's average attendance: 94.97%
Highest class attendance of the week: Tull Class - 97.98%
Academic year's average attendance: 95.91%
Our target for the year: 97.00%

We are proud to say that we have now been awarded three attendance certificates. We have been in the top 25% of similar schools for attendance in both the Autumn and Spring terms of the 2023-24 academic year. Results now say that we were in the top 10% of similar schools for attendance over the whole academic year!
