Our Value of the month: REFLECTION

Dear St. George’s families,

We’ve had a wonderful week at St. George’s, with Parents’ Evening being a great success. A huge thank you to all the families who attended and engaged in meaningful conversations about their child’s progress. A special well done to our Student Parent Ambassadors, who helped the evening run so smoothly by welcoming families, ushering parents to classrooms, and keeping everything on schedule. Their dedication and professionalism were fantastic to see!

Next week brings even more exciting opportunities. On Thursday, our Year 5 and 6 House Football Tournament will take place at St Dunstan’s College. We know our pupils will give their all, showing great teamwork and sportsmanship.

We’re also looking forward to welcoming Reception and Year 1 parents to our Reading Café workshops next week. These sessions will provide valuable insights into how we teach early reading, including phonics and comprehension skills, and how you can support your child at home.

Finally, please check the upcoming dates below, including a reminder that the Trust-wide INSET day is on the last day of this half term. School will be closed to pupils on this day, so please plan accordingly.

Thank you for your ongoing support—we look forward to another fantastic week ahead!

Warm regards,

Mr Janes

Attendance

At St Georges's, our culture statement says:

We are fun. We are together.

Being together means attending school regularly. This year, we have set a challenging target for attendance to be in line with pre-Covid levels. Each week we will publish our attendance in this newsletter. Please contribute by ensuring your child is in school, not missing out on learning.

This week's average attendance: 96.05%
Highest class attendance of the week: Tull Class - 99.09%
Academic year's average attendance: 95.85%
Our target for the year: 97.00%

We are proud to say that we have now been awarded three attendance certificates. We have been in the top 25% of similar schools for attendance in both the Autumn and Spring terms of the 2023-24 academic year. Results now say that we were in the top 10% of similar schools for attendance over the whole academic year!
