Dear St George’s families,
Welcome back! We hope you all had a restful Easter break and enjoyed the Bank Holiday at the start of this week. It’s been lovely to have the school filled with energy once again as we begin the summer term.
We were proud to celebrate St George’s Day this week—an important moment in our school calendar. Pupils across the school enjoyed hearing the story of St George and the dragon, and went on to produce some fantastic writing based on the myth. Keep an eye on next week’s newsletter where we’ll be sharing some of our favourite pieces from across the school!
There was also great excitement around our pupils' participation in the Mini London Marathon. They ran with enthusiasm and determination—a huge well done to Daniel M in Year 6, who finished 7th overall out of all 15,000 competitors! What an incredible achievement.
Thank you to the parents who joined us for our mental health coffee morning in partnership with the Lewisham Mental Health Team. We hope you found the session supportive and left with some useful tips for promoting wellbeing.
Next week, Year 6 pupils will complete their SATs. We’re offering a free breakfast club each morning to help them start the day calm, nourished, and ready to shine. Please ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep and is in school every day. We know they’ll show real perseverance and fully deserve their reward trip to the park on Friday.
There’s lots more to look forward to in the coming weeks, including Year 5’s trip to Southwark Cathedral, and some much-loved St George’s traditions after half term: Be Brave Day, Diversity Day and Evening, and School Games Day.
Don’t forget to check the calendar at the end of this newsletter for upcoming key dates.
Warm regards,
Mr Janes
