Dear St George's families,
We hope you had a lovely, restful half term! It’s been great to welcome the children back—there’s been a really positive buzz around school this week.
A big well done to our Year 1 pupils, who have completed their Phonics Screening Check. We’re so proud of the hard work they’ve put in. Year 4 have also impressed us with how confidently they tackled their Multiplication Tables Check—brilliant effort all round!
Looking ahead to next week, there are a few exciting things to keep in mind:
-
Monday is photo day—individual and class pictures will be taken, so please send your child in full school uniform, looking smart.
-
Our first ‘Chatty Provision’ workshop is also happening for Reception families. Come along to find out how to support your child’s talk and play at home using the same strategies we use in school.
-
It’s also time for our much-loved Be Brave Day! Children are invited to dress up as a brave historical figure—someone who’s stood up for what’s right, broken down barriers, or achieved something great. This day links to the very heart of our school vision: Be brave. Be great. Be you. If you need inspiration, take a look back at last year’s Be Brave Day news story.
And finally, keep an eye out for details about our upcoming Diversity Day and Diversity Evening. As always, we’ll be celebrating the different cultures and backgrounds that make up our school community. Children can wear traditional dress from their own heritage (or a heritage they know well), and families are warmly invited to share a national dish if they can. It’s always a fantastic day and evening—please do come along and join in!
Warm regards,
Mr Janes
