Our Value of the month: THANKFULNESS

Dear St George’s families,

It has been another excellent two weeks at St George’s, full of achievement and community spirit.

We are delighted to announce that our new Head Boy and Head Girl have now been appointed following interviews. All candidates showed great promise, and those not successful were given the opportunity to become Parent Ambassadors, ensuring we continue to grow strong pupil leadership across our school. You can read more in the news story below. Pupil leadership is an important way for us to live out our vision statement: Be great.

Our pupils have also been busy on the sports field, with tournaments now underway. We are pleased to share that our team finished third place in the most recent competition – a fantastic effort! Check out the report below to see more about their achievements.

Looking ahead, next week we welcome Reception families to our Reading Café. We hope as many of you as possible can join us to explore how we teach early reading and how you can support at home. Building strong reading foundations is vital – and there will be juice and biscuits on offer too!

Finally, a reminder that our Harvest Festival is coming up in a couple of weeks. This is a chance for our school community to give generously to those in need. Please see the poster below for details of what you can donate.

Warm regards,

Mr Janes

Attendance

At St Georges's, our culture statement says:

We are fun. We are together.

Being together means attending school regularly. This year, we have set a challenging target for attendance to be in line with pre-Covid levels. Each week we will publish our attendance in this newsletter. Please contribute by ensuring your child is in school, not missing out on learning.

This week's average attendance: 97.0%
Highest class attendance of the week: Benjamin Class - 100%
Academic year's average attendance: 96.7%
Our target for the year: 97.0%

We are proud to say that we have now been awarded three attendance certificates. We were in the top 10% of similar schools for attendance over the whole academic year. This year, we have been in the top 25% of schools nationally for both Autumn and Spring term.
