Our Value of the month: FAITH

Dear St George’s families,

It has been another busy and exciting week at St George’s, with plenty to celebrate across the school.

A huge well done to everyone who helped make St George’s Day such a special occasion this week. Pupils enjoyed exploring why St George is such an important figure for our school, and it was wonderful to see the children’s fabulous retellings of the famous myth. Their creativity, confidence, and enthusiasm made the day a real success.

We would like to wish the very best of luck to all pupils taking part in the TCS Mini London Marathon this weekend, which takes place alongside the official London Marathon. We are incredibly proud of all those representing the school and taking on this exciting challenge. A special thank you goes to Miss Mitchell for organising this opportunity for our pupils.

There have been lots of exciting class trips and workshops taking place recently, helping to bring learning to life beyond the classroom. This includes the Year 5 trip to the V&A Museum, which you can read more about in the news story below.

We are delighted that our Equal Eagles workshop programme has now begun for Upper Key Stage 2 pupils, delivered by Crystal Palace Football Club. This fantastic initiative gives pupils the opportunity to learn more about diversity, equality, and inclusion, as well as the chance to visit Selhurst Park later in the programme.

As always, there is so much going on across the school, and we are looking forward to all that the rest of the term will bring.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,

Mr Janes

Attendance

At St Georges's, our culture statement says:

We are fun. We are together.

Being together means attending school regularly. This year, we have set a challenging target for attendance to be in line with pre-Covid levels. Each week we will publish our attendance in this newsletter. Please contribute by ensuring your child is in school, not missing out on learning.

This week's average attendance: 95.4%
Highest class attendance of the week: Best Class - 99.2%
Academic year's average attendance: 96.5%
Our target for the year: 97.0%

We are proud to say that we have now been awarded three attendance certificates. We were in the top 10% of similar schools for attendance over the whole academic year. This year, we have been in the top 25% of schools nationally for both Autumn. Let's keep it up and see how we did in the Spring term!
