Our Value of the month: HONESTY

Dear St George’s families,

It has certainly been a warm week at St George’s! Thank you to all parents and carers for your support during the hot weather, particularly those who were able to take advantage of the optional 1:20pm collection. Your flexibility helped us to keep classrooms cooler and ensure that pupils remained as comfortable and safe as possible throughout the day. We are looking forward to returning to our usual routines next week, and with cooler temperatures forecast, a reminder that pupils should return to wearing full school uniform.

Many of you will already have seen, via SchoolPing, that our Ofsted report has now been published. We are incredibly proud to have been judged strong in all areas, reflecting the hard work and dedication of our pupils, staff, governors, and wider school community. If you haven't yet had the chance to read the report, you can find some of the inspectors' comments highlighted in a news story below.

This week also saw our annual school photographs, and we are looking forward to sending the proofs home with pupils soon. We hope you enjoy looking through the photographs and, if you wish, selecting your favourite prints to order.

A final reminder that Diversity Day takes place next week. We are really looking forward to celebrating the many cultures, traditions, and backgrounds that make our school community so special. If you are able to, please do bring along a food dish to share and wear traditional dress or clothing that celebrates your heritage. It is always one of the highlights of the school year, and we cannot wait to celebrate together.

As always, there is plenty happening across the school, so please enjoy reading the news stories below.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,

Mr Janes

Attendance

At St Georges's, our culture statement says:

We are fun. We are together.

Being together means attending school regularly. This year, we have set a challenging target for attendance to be in line with pre-Covid levels. Each week we will publish our attendance in this newsletter. Please contribute by ensuring your child is in school, not missing out on learning.

This week's average attendance: 92.00%
Highest class attendance of the week: Sancho-Thunberg - 96.00%
Academic year's average attendance: 96.3%
Our target for the year: 97.0%

We are proud to say that we have now been awarded three attendance certificates. We were in the top 10% of similar schools for attendance over the whole academic year. This year, we have been in the top 25% of schools nationally for both Autumn. Let's keep it up and see how we did in the Spring term!
