Our Value of the month: HONESTY

Dear St George’s families,

As we reach the end of another fantastic academic year, it is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on just how much we have achieved together as a school community. The past few weeks alone have been packed with memorable events and celebrations.

Our Diversity Day was, once again, a real highlight of the year, bringing our community together to celebrate the many cultures, traditions, and backgrounds that make St George’s such a special place. Be Brave Day inspired pupils to reflect on our school vision of Be brave. Be great. Be you., while School Games Day was a tremendous success despite the exceptionally warm weather. A huge well done to all of our pupils for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship, and congratulations to everyone who took part in the ever-popular parent race!

This week, pupils enjoyed meeting their new teachers and spending time in their new classrooms as part of their transition to September. We hope this has helped everyone feel excited and confident about the year ahead. Yesterday's Year 6 Leavers' Service provided a fitting and heartfelt farewell for our oldest pupils. It was wonderful to celebrate their achievements, congratulate our prize winners, and enjoy the fantastic performances that made the afternoon so special. We wish all of our Year 6 pupils every success as they begin the next chapter of their education.

As always at this time of year, we say goodbye to some valued members of staff. We would like to thank Miss Khan, who has been part of the St George’s family for the past three years, making a lasting difference to the lives of so many pupils through her dedication and care. We also say farewell to Miss Noor, who joined us at Christmas and has provided her class with consistency, kindness, and support throughout the year. We wish them both every happiness as they relocate outside London.

Looking ahead, we are delighted to be welcoming two new teachers to St George’s in September. Please do say hello to Mrs Witkowska and Miss Gonzalez when you see them in the playground—they are very much looking forward to becoming part of our school community.

Finally, thank you to all of our parents and carers for your continued support throughout the year. The partnership between home and school plays such an important role in making St George’s the special place it is. We hope you all have a wonderful, restful summer break and return in September refreshed, re-energised, and ready for another exciting year of learning.

Wishing you all a happy and safe summer holiday,

Mr Janes

Attendance

At St Georges's, our culture statement says:

We are fun. We are together.

Being together means attending school regularly. This year, we have set a challenging target for attendance to be in line with pre-Covid levels. Each week we will publish our attendance in this newsletter. Please contribute by ensuring your child is in school, not missing out on learning.

This week's average attendance: 94.0%
Highest class attendance of the week: Best Class - 95.7%
Academic year's average attendance: 96.3%
Our target for the year: 97.0%

We are proud to say that we have now been awarded three attendance certificates. We were in the top 10% of similar schools for attendance over the whole academic year. This year, we have been in the top 25% of schools nationally for both Autumn. Let's keep it up and see how we did in the Spring term!

Good luck to the class of 2026!

On Thursday, we said goodbye to our fabulous Year 6 pupils. They sang, they danced, and they gave some tear-jerking speeches!

We wish them all the best in the next stage of their education.
