Our Value of the month: GENEROSITY

Dear St George’s families,

As we reach the end of our first half term, it has been lovely to reflect on such a busy and successful start to the school year!

This week, we visited the church for our Harvest Festival, where the children sang beautifully and our Faith Group represented the school brilliantly. Thank you to everyone who contributed donations, which will be passed on to Lewisham Foodbank to support local families.

Across the school, children have also been enjoying DT Fortnight, exploring structures and food through some fantastic practical learning experiences. Do take a look at the news stories below to see what they have been getting up to!

A big thank you to all the parents who attended our Phonics Cafés this half term. We hope these sessions have helped you feel even more confident in supporting your child's learning at home. Reading regularly together makes such a difference, so please keep this up over the break!

Finally, we say a very fond farewell to Barbara, who is retiring after 12 wonderful years at St George's. She has been such an important part of our school community and will be greatly missed. We wish her every happiness as she begins this exciting new chapter.

Wishing all our families a wonderful half term break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for another exciting half term!

Attendance

At St Georges's, our culture statement says:

We are fun. We are together.

Being together means attending school regularly. This year, we have set a challenging target for attendance to be in line with pre-Covid levels. Each week we will publish our attendance in this newsletter. Please contribute by ensuring your child is in school, not missing out on learning.

This week's average attendance: 97.7%
Highest class attendance of the week: Best and Tull Class - 100%
Academic year's average attendance: 95.0%
Our target for the year: 97.0%

We are proud to say that we have now been awarded three attendance certificates. We were in the top 10% of similar schools for attendance over the whole academic year. This year, we have been in the top 25% of schools nationally for both Autumn. Let's keep it up and see how we did in the Spring term!
