Dear St. George's families,

What a pleasure it has been to be back at school this week. All of our pupils have settled straight into their learning and are fully prepared to live out our school vision: Be brave. Be great. Be you.

During the Summer holidays, we were notified of some good news. We have once again been awarded the Gold Mark for the School Games. Sports and physical well-being is really important to us at St George's and we are so lucky to have Miss Michell as our PE lead to champion this area. Have a look at the news story below for more information.

All important whole school dates are now on the school website calendar here for the Autumn term. This will be updated with more dates for the Spring and Summer term next week. You can also view the key dates below on this newsletter.

One key date to put in your diary is our Open Classroom event, which we hold in place of 1:1 parents' evenings in the Autumn Term. They are a time to speak to your child's class teacher and view their learning and exercise books. It is really important you attend this event so you know how your child is getting on in school.

Finally, all of us at St George's wish to recognise the sad news of the Queen's passing yesterday. It comes at a poignant time, having just celebrated the Jubilee with our pupils in the Summer. As a school, we will take some moments in time to respond to pupils' questions. Importantly, we will continue to live out the fundamental British values she represented.

As ever, we wish you the very best of weekends, full of rest and fun, ready for learning on Monday.

Mr Janes

Our New Attendance Officer

At St George's, we know that it is vitally important that our pupils are in every day and on time. We do not want them to miss out on a single minute's learning.

This academic year, we will be working with Lewisham's attendance team and will have our very own Education Welfare Officer based here once a week.

Her name is Laura Annansingh and she looks forward to helping families ensure pupils reach their attendance goals.
