Science Week in Nursery!

Exploring the Wonders of Science Week in Nursery!
This week in Nursery, our little scientists have been busy discovering the magic of nature during Science Week! Through hands-on experiences, they have truly embraced our Early Years Vision: Be an Explorer. Be a Trier. Be a Talker. Be a Creator.
Our young explorers have been sowing outdoors seeds and growing bulbs indoors, carefully observing how plants begin their journey from tiny seeds to beautiful blooms. They have been fascinated by the changes happening each day, eagerly checking pots and planters to see the first signs of growth!
With curiosity and determination, our children have shown what it means to be a trier—working hard to plant their seeds, water them with care, and learn about what plants need to grow. We’ve talked about how sunlight, water, and soil help plants thrive, and the children have been asking brilliant questions along the way.
We have also been talkers, learning the different names for the parts of a flower. From roots to petals, our children have been excited to use new vocabulary, sharing their learning with their friends and teachers. It has been wonderful to hear them describe their plants and confidently discuss what they have observed.
Creativity has bloomed in our nursery as well! Inspired by their observations, our little creators have produced paintings of daffodils. They carefully noticed the shapes and colour of petals, stems, and leaves, using their artistic skills to bring their pictures to life.
One of the highlights of the week has been reading Lulu Loves Flowers—a favourite story that has sparked even more excitement for growing plants. The children have loved talking about Lulu’s adventures in the garden and making connections with their own planting experiences.
Science Week has certainly been an exciting time of exploration, perseverance, conversation, and creativity.
