Kurling Into 2026 with Confidence!

On 19th January 2026, children from Year 3 and Year 4 attended the SEND New Age Kurling School Games competition, held at Bonus Pastor Catholic College.

This exciting event marked the first School Games competition of the year, giving pupils a fantastic opportunity to represent their school and experience a brand-new sport.

For many of the children, this was their first time trying New Age Kurling, an accessible and inclusive version of the Winter Olympic sport of curling. The competition took place in Bonus Pastor’s sports hall, where pupils worked in teams to push their kurling stones across the floor towards the centre target.

The aim of the game was simple but required skill and focus: teams scored points by getting their stones as close to the centre mark as possible. The stone closest to the target earned the point for that round, encouraging both strategy and teamwork throughout the matches.

Our pupils showed great enthusiasm as they embraced this new challenge. They demonstrated our PE values perfectly by choosing to be passionate about learning a new sport, be respectful to other teams and officials, and be determined in every game they played.

We are incredibly proud of all the children who took part and represented the school so well. After a brilliant effort, the team achieved an excellent 4th place finish in the competition.

Well done to our Year 3 and 4 pupils for such a positive start to the year’s School Games events!
