Team Spirit on Show at the #MadeForThisGame Girls Football Festival

Year 5/6 Girls Shine at #MadeForThisGame Football Festival
On Friday 6th March 2026, a group of enthusiastic Year 5 and 6 girls proudly represented our school at the #MadeForThisGame Year 5/6 Girls Football Festival, hosted at St Dunstan's Jubilee Ground. The event brought together teams from 14 schools across the Lewisham borough, creating an exciting day of football, teamwork, and positive sporting experiences.
The festival highlighted the importance of giving children the opportunity to enjoy sport in a supportive and inclusive competitive environment. Events like this allow pupils to develop confidence, teamwork, and resilience while celebrating participation and effort.
Throughout the day, our team played several matches against strong opposition. The girls showed fantastic teamwork and determination, winning some games and losing others, but always maintaining their positive attitude and never losing their spirit.
One of the most impressive aspects of the day was the way the team supported and encouraged one another. Whether celebrating a great goal or lifting each other up after a tough moment, the girls demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and unity. Their enthusiasm and energy were clear to see in every match.

Most importantly, every player left the festival having had a positive sporting experience. The girls had a fantastic time, enjoyed the challenge of competing against other schools, and strengthened their team spirit along the way.
The festival also perfectly reflected our PE values:
-
Be Passionate – The girls showed a real love for the game, giving their best effort in every match.
-
Be Respectful – They demonstrated excellent sportsmanship towards teammates, opponents, and referees throughout the tournament.
-
Be Determined – Even when games were challenging, the team kept going, supporting each other and playing with resilience.
We are incredibly proud of the girls for the way they represented the school and embraced the spirit of the festival. Opportunities like this are vital in helping children build confidence, develop skills, and discover the joy of sport. Well done to everyone involved! ⚽👏
