Year 5/6 Girls’ House Hockey Competition Showcases Skill and Determination

Blue House celebrating their Gold Medals in the Year 5/6 House Hockey.

On Thursday 16th April 2026, pupils from Years 5 and 6 took to the pitches at Dulwich College Sports Club for the exciting Girls’ House Hockey Competition. As with all Key Stage 2 sporting events, the day was designed to provide every child with a positive and rewarding competitive experience, highlighting the importance of participation, teamwork, and enjoyment alongside healthy competition.

Each year, all KS2 pupils are given the opportunity to compete at Dulwich College, reinforcing the school’s belief that sport should be inclusive, engaging, and inspiring for every child. The Girls’ House Hockey Competition was a perfect example of this ethos in action.

The tournament began with a round-robin stage, where all five houses played against each other. Matches were closely contested, with teams demonstrating impressive skill, teamwork, and determination throughout.

At the end of the group stage, the top four houses advanced to the semi-finals. These matches were packed with excitement, including one that went to a dramatic penalty shootout, showcasing both composure and resilience under pressure.

Following the semi-finals, attention turned to the medal matches. The bronze medal match saw two strong teams competing fiercely for a place on the podium, before the day concluded with a thrilling gold medal match to decide the overall champions.
