Year 3/4 Mixed Football Tournament – A Fantastic Day of Talent and Teamwork

Our Year 3/4 representing St George's at the Year 3/4 mixed football competition in Lewisham.
On Friday 17th April, our Year 3/4 mixed football team took part in an exciting and highly competitive tournament held at St Dunstans Jubilee Grounds. The School Games event brought together a number of schools, all eager to showcase their skills, determination, and love for the game—and it certainly did not disappoint.
From the very first whistle, it was clear that the standard of football was incredibly high. Every match was filled with energy, enthusiasm, and impressive talent across all teams. Our players rose to the challenge brilliantly, demonstrating not only their developing football ability but also their understanding of teamwork and fair play.
A Strong Performance from St Georges
St Georges delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament. The team worked tirelessly for one another, showing excellent communication, passing, and positioning on the pitch. Their attacking play was particularly impressive, with the team scoring a number of well-worked goals that reflected both skill and teamwork.
Each player contributed to the team’s success, supporting one another in both attack and defence. Their positive attitude and resilience were evident in every game, and it was fantastic to see their confidence grow as the tournament progressed.
Finishing 3rd in their group is a fantastic achievement in such a competitive field—well done to all involved!
Living Our PE Values
The day was a brilliant example of our core PE values in action:
- Be Passionate – Every player showed enthusiasm and a genuine love for the game, giving their best effort in every match.
- Be Respectful – Teams demonstrated respect towards opponents, referees, and teammates, showing excellent sportsmanship throughout the day.
- Be Determined – Even when matches were challenging, our players never gave up, continuing to work hard and support each other until the final whistle.
These values are just as important as the results, and it was wonderful to see them brought to life on and off the pitch.
A Big Thank You
A special thank you must go to the parents and carers who supported the team on the day. Your encouragement from the sidelines made a huge difference and helped create such a positive atmosphere for the children. We are incredibly grateful for your time, energy, and ongoing support.
We would also like to thank the staff and organisers for running such a well-organised and enjoyable event.
Well done again to all of our players—your effort, teamwork, and attitude made us incredibly proud!
