Lewisham Champions Take on London’s Best

St George's Represent Lewisham at the Jr. NBA 3v3 Regional Finals
On Friday 22nd May 2026, our Year 5/6 mixed basketball team proudly represented Lewisham at the London Regional Finals of the Jr. NBA 3v3 Basketball Competition. The event was held at The Score Centre in Leyton and brought together some of the strongest young basketball players from across London.

Having won the Lewisham Games earlier in the year, our team earned the fantastic opportunity to progress to the regional stage and compete against other borough champions. This was a tremendous achievement and a memorable experience for all involved.
As always, our athletes were excellent ambassadors not only for St George's but also for the borough of Lewisham. Throughout the day, they demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork and positivity both on and off the court.

The standard of competition was extremely high, with every team showcasing impressive skill, determination and passion for the game. Our players gave 100% effort in every match, competing with courage and commitment against some very talented opponents. Although we were unfortunately unable to progress beyond the group stages, the team should be immensely proud of their performances and the way they represented our school.

The tournament provided a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to challenge themselves, develop their basketball skills and experience competition at a regional level.
Most importantly, the team embodied the calls to action in our curriculum vision statement for PE throughout the day:
Be Passionate – showing enthusiasm, energy and a love for the game.
Be Respectful – demonstrating excellent sportsmanship towards teammates, opponents and officials.
Be Determined – giving their very best effort in every game and never giving up.
Congratulations to all of the players on this outstanding achievement. Reaching the London Regional Finals is something to be incredibly proud of, and we look forward to seeing what this talented group can achieve in the future.
