St George’s Girls Hit It Out of the Park!

Year 5/6 Girls Shine at Cricket Tournament and Bring Home 4th Place Medals
On Wednesday 10th June, our Year 5/6 girls proudly represented St George’s at the Year 5/6 Girls Cricket Tournament held at St Dunstans Jubilee Ground — and what a fantastic day it was!

From the very first match, the team demonstrated outstanding skill, teamwork and determination. Batting performances were particularly impressive, with the girls confidently striking boundaries, including some excellent fours and even spectacular sixes that helped secure valuable runs.
Their fielding and bowling were equally strong throughout the tournament. With accurate bowling and excellent teamwork in the field, the team claimed several key wickets and put their opponents under real pressure.

Most importantly, the girls showed incredible attitude and resilience all day long. Their hard work, positivity and teamwork saw them successfully progress through the group stages and earn a well-deserved place in the semi-finals. Although they were unfortunately beaten by a strong opposition side, the team should be extremely proud of their achievement.
Their efforts were rewarded with an impressive 4th place finish and medals to bring home — a brilliant accomplishment in a sport that many of the girls do not regularly play.
Throughout the tournament, our St George’s athletes truly demonstrated our P.E. values:
- Be Passionate – giving their all in every match and celebrating each success together.
- Be Respectful – showing excellent sportsmanship towards teammates, opponents and officials.
- Be Determined – working hard, staying positive and competing right until the final ball.
Well done to all of the athletes involved for representing St George’s so brilliantly. You should all be incredibly proud of your performances and achievements.
Now we look ahead to next week, when our Year 5/6 boys will have their chance to show off their cricket skills… can they also return with a medal?
