Year 5 and 6 Stars Sprint, Jump, and Throw to Glory

Year 5 and 6 taking part in the 2026 MAT Games Day.

On Monday 6th July, twelve pupils from Years 5 and 6 proudly represented St George's at the 2026 MAT Games Day, held at Dulwich College Sports Club. The event brought together nine schools from across our Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), celebrating sport, teamwork and the continued growth of our MAT family.

It is fantastic to see our MAT community continuing to grow, and events such as the MAT Games Day provide a wonderful opportunity for pupils from different schools to come together, compete and build new friendships. Sport has a unique way of uniting people, encouraging healthy competition while creating lasting memories.

Our team consisted of six girls and six boys, with every pupil taking part in a series of athletics events. Each competitor completed a jump, a throw and a run, choosing between the vortex throw or rounders ball throw, the long jump or triple jump, and either the 80m, 150m or 600m race. The day concluded with an exciting relay, where every member of the team played their part.

The standard of competition was incredibly high, and all of our pupils demonstrated outstanding effort, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the day. We were delighted with the results, with our girls finishing 8th, our boys securing an impressive 2nd place, and St George's achieving 4th place overall out of the nine participating schools.

Most importantly, our pupils were fantastic ambassadors for the school, living out our PE values every step of the way. They showed what it means to Be Passionate by giving their all in every event, Be Respectful by encouraging teammates and competitors alike, and Be Determined by pushing themselves to achieve their very best.

Congratulations to everyone who represented St George's. We are incredibly proud of your achievements and the way you embodied our school values. We look forward to taking part in future MAT sporting events and continuing to strengthen the bonds across our MAT family.
