Blue House Crowned 2026 School Games Day Champions

2026 School Games Day at Dulwich College

What another incredible morning of sport! Our annual School Games Day at the outstanding athletics facilities of Dulwich College was a fantastic celebration of participation, teamwork and achievement, providing the perfect way to round off another excellent year of sport at St George's. Blessed with glorious sunshine throughout the morning, the atmosphere was filled with excitement, encouragement and house spirit.

Heading into Games Day, the competition could not have been closer. Following our House Hockey and House Football competitions, the overall House leaderboard was incredibly tight, meaning everything was still to play for in our final sporting event of the academic year.

One of the highlights of Games Day is seeing it truly become a whole-school event. From our Nursery children right through to Year 6, every pupil proudly represented their house, giving their very best and cheering on their teammates throughout the morning.

Early Years

Our Early Years pupils enjoyed a range of exciting events, including a short sprint, the ever-popular egg and spoon race, vortex throw and, of course, the crowd-favourite tug of war. Their enthusiasm, determination and huge smiles were wonderful to see.

Years 1 to 6

Meanwhile, pupils in Years 1 to 6 competed across a variety of athletics disciplines. In the field events, children showcased their jumping abilities in the high jump, triple jump and long jump, with many enjoying the opportunity to leap into the sandpit! The throwing event saw competitors testing their power and technique in the vortex throw, aiming to send it as far down the astro as possible.

On the track, pupils raced in age-appropriate sprint events:

  • Years 1 and 2: 40m sprint
  • Years 3 and 4: 60m sprint
  • Years 5 and 6: 80m sprint

The fastest runners from each heat progressed to the finals, creating a brilliant atmosphere as pupils, staff and parents gathered around the track to cheer on the finalists. Every race was fiercely contested, and congratulations go to all of our medal winners, with the top three finishers in each class proudly receiving their medals.

To round off another memorable Games Day, the ever-entertaining teachers' and parents' races returned, providing plenty of laughter and friendly competition before the final House points were added together.

After an outstanding morning of athletics, we are delighted to congratulate Blue House, who were crowned our 2026 School Games Day Champions!

A huge thank you goes to all of our pupils for their enthusiasm, determination and exemplary sportsmanship, to our staff for organising and running the event, to our parents for their fantastic support, and to Dulwich College for once again providing such excellent facilities. It was a fitting celebration of another superb year of sport at St George's, and a wonderful reminder of the teamwork, resilience and house spirit that make our sporting community so special.
