On Friday 9th October, the St George’s Year 5 and 6 girls’ football team proudly represented the school at the Lewisham School Games Football Tournament, held at St Dunstan’s Jubilee, achieving an excellent 5th-place finish.

Throughout the tournament, the girls demonstrated incredible teamwork, passion and determination, competing against some strong opposition. The team celebrated some fantastic wins, battled hard to earn a few draws and showed resilience in the face of some challenging defeats. Whatever the result, the girls continued to support one another, work together and give their very best in every match.

The tournament was a wonderful opportunity for the girls to put our PE values into action. They Be Passionate by showing enthusiasm, energy and a real love for the game. They Be Respectful by treating their teammates, opponents and everyone involved in the tournament with respect and sportsmanship. Most importantly, they Be Determined by continuing to work hard, encouraging one another and never giving up, even when faced with difficult challenges.

Finishing in 5th place is a fantastic achievement, and the girls should be incredibly proud of their efforts. Beyond the results, their positive attitudes, commitment and team spirit were a credit to themselves and to St George’s.

Well done to all the players! You were fantastic ambassadors for our school, showing our PE values throughout the day. We are very proud of you all — keep up the brilliant work!
