Serving up Success! A Smashing Morning with Old College Lawn Tennis Club!

Year 4 and Year 5 enjoying a morning of tennis with Old College Lawn Tennis Club coaches.
On Wednesday 4th June, our school was thrilled to welcome Coach Alex and Coach Luke from Old College Lawn Tennis Club for a special tennis event – and what a fantastic morning it was!
It was a joy to see Coach Alex, the head coach, return to our school, and we were equally excited to meet Coach Luke, who joined him to deliver a high-energy, one-off coaching session. The morning began with Year 5 taking to the courts, followed by Year 4, each group eager to learn and ready to show off their tennis talent.
The coaches were on the lookout not just for great tennis skills, but also for children who demonstrated a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and the values we champion in PE:
Be Passionate.Be Respectful.
Be Determined.
The sessions began with some fun ball skills and ball control games to get everyone warmed up and focused.
Pupils then moved onto rallying in pairs and playing friendly matches against one another, helping them develop both technique and teamwork.
A thrilling game of Bonus Ball added lots of laughs and energy, before the morning finished with the ultimate challenge: trying to win points against the coaches themselves!
Coach Alex and Coach Luke will now be selecting five children from each class to attend their Old College summer camps, where they will enjoy high-quality coaching, exciting games, and friendly tournaments. It’s an incredible opportunity and we are so proud of all the children who took part with such dedication and spirit.
We would like to give a huge thank you to Coach Alex, Coach Luke, and everyone at Old College Lawn Tennis Club for making this inspiring morning possible. We look forward to building on this brilliant partnership and seeing even more children pick up a racket and give tennis a try!
