Introducing.... Minibeasts!

Since returning from the half-term break, the nursery have jumped straight back into our Ground, Air, Water topic—this time introducing a focus on minibeasts!
To help the children understand what minibeasts are and where they live, we kicked off with a minibeast hunt around our environment. The children loved searching for creepy crawlies and discovering the hidden world beneath their feet!
We’ve also been busy with a variety of hands-on, fun, activities to help our learners familiarise themselves with the names and characteristics of minibeasts. These have included:
🔹 Creating with minibeast-shaped dough cutters
🔹 Printing repeating patterns with minibeast stamps and drawing with minibeast stencils
🔹 Playing with toy bugs at our small world table
🔹 Reading rhymes from our fantastic book "Mad About Minibeasts" and beginning to learn a range of minibeast songs.
All of these activities are helping the children to develop a range of skills as well as the new vocabulary and language needed to prepare them for our focus minibeast and minibeast book each week. Look out for our work on The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Very Busy Spider and The Bad Tempered Ladybird to name but a few.
We’ve also introduced a brand-new way to celebrate the progress of our children who will be moving to Reception in September:🌟 Our ‘Ready for Reception’ Certificates! 🌟
Children can work towards collecting four special certificates: I can Count. I can Write. I can Sing Songs and Rhymes. I am Independent.
A letter has gone home with full details on how your child can earn their certificates. Many of our children are already well on the way to collecting a full set - please give them any help you can to support their efforts.
Living out our Early Years Vision:
Be an Explorer. Be a Trier. Be a Talker. Be a Creator.
