Y5/6 Girls Euro Football

Our Y5/6 girls taking part in the Lewisham School Games Football Euros Championships.
On Friday 4th July, our Year 5/6 girls football team travelled to AFC Lewisham to take part in the 2025 Y5/6 Girls Football Euro Championship, a fantastic tournament run by Lewisham School Games to celebrate the UEFA Women’s Euros. The event brought together schools from across the borough, each representing a different European country in a celebration of sport, teamwork and community.
Our team proudly represented their country with flags in hand, joining a colourful opening ceremony that featured an arc of all the Euro nation flags—a striking sight that set the tone for a brilliant day. Photographers were present to capture the smiles, action shots, and moments of determination as the tournament kicked off.
We are incredibly proud to announce that our team finished 6th overall in the competition—an excellent achievement among strong competition. Their effort, teamwork and sportsmanship truly reflected our school’s P.E. values:
Be Passionate.
Be Respectful.
Be Determined.
It was inspiring to see so many girls enjoying football and representing their schools with pride. Events like this highlight the growing opportunities for girls in sport, and we are committed to continuing this momentum—encouraging even more girls to get involved, stay active, and love the game.
This tournament marked a brilliant end to another action-packed year of School Games events. A huge thank you to Craig Belgrave and Harry Barnes for their tireless work and passion throughout the year in organising such fantastic sporting opportunities for our pupils.
We now look ahead with excitement to the 2025/2026 School Games year, ready to build on this success and continue to nurture the next generation of athletes.
Well done to everyone involved!
