School Games Day 2025

Another successful School Games Day at Dulwich College Sports Club, where Yellow House take victory!

Dulwich, Friday 11th July 2025 — Under the blazing summer sun at Dulwich College Sports Club, the entire St George’s school community came together once again for a fantastic Whole School Games Day — a highlight of the academic year and a true celebration of sport, effort, and community.

Despite the hot weather, spirits remained high throughout the day as extra shade and plenty of water ensured the children could give their best. And give their best they did — every pupil from Nursery up to Year 6 ran, jumped, and threw with impressive energy, determination and skill, proudly cheered on by friends and family.

Once again, we were privileged to use the outstanding facilities at Dulwich College Sports Club, which provided the perfect backdrop for the wide range of events. Children took part in sprinting races, throwing challenges, and long jumps, each giving it their all and embracing the joy of sport and teamwork.

A huge thank you must go to all the staff, whose hard work behind the scenes and dedication on the day ensured everything ran so smoothly. From setting up and organising the events, to encouraging and guiding the children throughout, their efforts were key to making the day such a success.

One of the day’s most eagerly anticipated and fiercely competitive events, as always, was the Parent-Teacher Race. Laughter and cheers echoed across the field as mums, dads, and teachers lined up for the flat race — and while many gave it their all, it was Aiden who held on to his title for yet another year. The question remains: can anyone beat him in 2026?

A standout element of the day was the incredible support from parents, carers and friends, whose enthusiastic cheering created a brilliant and uplifting atmosphere. Their presence made the occasion even more special for the children, who rose to the occasion and showcased their sporting talents with pride.

Throughout the day, it was clear to see our P.E. values in action:

Be passionate.

Be respectful.

Be determined.

Whether it was a child crossing the finish line, helping a friend, or pushing themselves to do their best, the spirit of these values shone brightly.

This year’s event also marked a dramatic conclusion to the house competition. In a testament to their resilience and team spirit, Yellow House staged a spectacular comeback to overtake Blue House and claim the House Cup for the second year. Congratulations to Yellow House – our 2025 champions! The battle for the 2026 title is already shaping up to be an exciting one.

The Whole School Games Day 2025 was not just a fun-filled event but also a fitting celebration of another remarkable year of sport at St George’s. It was a day that truly reflected the school’s values of participation, perseverance, and pride — and reminded us all of the power of sport to bring people together.

We look forward to seeing what next year will bring!
