Our year 5/6 mixed football team finished the year with an excellent 6-4 win vs local rivals, Perrymount
In a gripping finale to a year of friendly football fixtures, St George’s mixed Year 5/6 team battled local rivals Perrymount Primary in a high-energy 7-a-side showdown on Wednesday 16th July 2025. With two girls on the pitch at all times, the match showcased not only skill but teamwork, resilience, and great sportsmanship from both sides.
The St George’s squad burst into action from the first whistle, racing to a 2-0 lead in the early minutes. Confidence was high, and the momentum was strong. But true to form, Perrymount found their rhythm, got their key players on the ball, and clawed their way back to 2-2, showing exactly why they’ve been such worthy opponents all year.
What followed was a tense and physical contest—each goal matched by the other side, each player giving their all. At 3-3, the match hung in the balance, with both teams determined to finish the year on a high. But in the final ten minutes, St George’s showed what they were made of, firing in three superb goals to seal the match with a 6-4 win.

Every player wore the St George’s shirt with pride, playing not only for victory but for each other. The teamwork, grit, and positive attitude shown by both teams made this more than just a game—it was a celebration of school sport at its very best.
