Times Tables: Building Strong Foundations for Future Success

Our Times Table Rockstars Champions!

At our school, we recognise the vital role times tables play in building mathematical confidence and success. Knowing multiplication facts quickly and accurately is essential – it frees up working memory so children can focus on more complex problems, such as fractions, without being held back.

To support this, children regularly practise their times tables in school, working their way through their times table badges. Each badge represents progress and mastery, with more tables to learn and recall as they move forward.

As part of our home learning programme, pupils also take part in Times Tables Rock Stars for 20 minutes each week. This fun and engaging platform encourages children to compete against themselves while earning coins for correct answers and speed. We are delighted to see so many pupils making fantastic progress, embodying our school vision statement:

“Be great.”

Year 2

Year 3

Year 4

Year 5

Year 6

A special congratulations goes to the top three children in each class who achieved the most coins this week – an excellent achievement that demonstrates hard work and commitment. We are also proud to celebrate the incredible number of children who have reached ‘Rock Hero’ status, recalling their times tables in less than one second per fact!

These successes all connect directly to our Maths Vision:

Be Fluent.

Be Systematic.

Be a Problem-Solver.

By becoming fluent in times tables, working systematically through practice, and applying this knowledge to problem-solving, our pupils are laying the groundwork for lifelong mathematical success.
