Game, Set, Match… Cricket Style!

Year 4 enjoying their final session with Platform Cricket.
We were delighted to welcome back Platform Cricket this Spring term, as Year 4 took part in an exciting series of cricket sessions designed to inspire a love of the game. Platform Cricket’s mission to increase participation in cricket across inner-city London was clear to see, as pupils fully embraced every opportunity to get involved.
Across the term, children developed their understanding of the game while building key skills, including batting, bowling, and fielding. Their enthusiasm and energy shone through in every session, and it was wonderful to see how quickly their confidence and ability grew. There were some truly exceptional moments, with many impressive batters and bowlers emerging — perhaps even a few future cricket stars in Year 4!
Our curriculum vision statement for PE is:
Be passionate. Be respectful. Be determined.
Beyond skill development, pupils also learnt the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance. They demonstrated our PE values throughout, showing what it means to be passionate in their effort and enjoyment, be respectful to teammates and coaches, and be determined as they practised and improved each week.
To conclude the programme, pupils put their learning into action in a fun and competitive class match. Every child had the opportunity to bat and bowl, applying their skills in a real game setting. The matches were full of excitement, encouragement, and teamwork, providing a fantastic finale to the sessions.

We are incredibly proud of Year 4 for their commitment and positive attitude throughout. A big thank you to Platform Cricket for delivering such engaging sessions — we look forward to seeing many of our pupils continue their cricket journey in the future!
