One Mile, Big Achievements

Another Successful Term of the Daily Mile
This term has seen yet another fantastic commitment to the Daily Mile across the school, with pupils showing great enthusiasm and determination as they ran week after week. The Daily Mile continues to be a key part of school life, supporting not only children’s physical fitness but also their mental wellbeing, helping them to feel energised, focused, and ready to learn.
As always, the term concluded with our much-anticipated timed mile. In Key Stage 1, every child received a certificate of participation, celebrating their effort and commitment to taking part. In Key Stage 2, pupils challenged themselves to improve on their previous times, demonstrating real perseverance and dedication. The top three runners in each class were awarded medals, recognising their outstanding achievement.
All pupils have been living out the calls to action in our curriculum vision statement for PE:
Be passionate. Be respectful. Be determined.

It has been particularly inspiring to see so many children working hard over the term to improve their performance. Their willingness to push themselves and strive for personal bests truly reflects the value of determination. For those who achieved medals, it is a clear reminder that hard work and perseverance really do pay off.

The Daily Mile also continues to promote our PE values. Pupils have shown what it means to be passionate in their effort and commitment, be respectful by encouraging their peers and celebrating each other’s successes, and be determined as they challenge themselves to keep improving.
Beyond the physical benefits, regular running plays an important role in supporting children’s mental health, helping to reduce stress, boost mood, and build confidence. It is wonderful to see the positive impact this simple activity continues to have on all our pupils.
We now look forward to another exciting term of running in the Summer term, including taking part in the TCS Mini London Marathon at St James' Park, as well as our own in-school event. We can’t wait to see even more progress, perseverance, and passion from our young runners!
