Year 5/6 Boys’ House Hockey Competition Full of Energy and Excitement

Yellow House celebrating their Gold Medals after being victorious in the Year 5/6 Boys House hockey.
On Thursday 16th April 2026, Year 5 and 6 boys travelled to Dulwich College Sports Club to take part in the annual House Hockey Competition. As with all Key Stage 2 sporting events, the day focused on ensuring every child experienced positive, enjoyable, and meaningful competition.
The event highlighted the importance of giving all pupils the opportunity to compete in a supportive environment, where teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship are valued just as highly as winning. Each year, KS2 pupils come together at Dulwich College to take part in this fun yet competitive hockey tournament, and this year’s event certainly lived up to expectations.
The competition began with a round-robin format, where all five houses competed against each other. Every match was played with great enthusiasm and determination, with pupils demonstrating impressive skill and teamwork throughout.

At the end of the group stage, the top four houses progressed to the semi-finals. These matches were incredibly exciting, with one game being decided by a tense penalty shootout that had everyone watching on the edge of their seats.

The tournament then moved into the final stages, beginning with the bronze medal match, where two teams battled hard for a place on the podium. This was followed by a thrilling gold medal match, where the finalists gave their all in pursuit of becoming champions.
