Spring Growth and Storybook Inspirations
We are delighted to share that our new topic for the term is Land, Air & Water! Over the coming weeks, the children will be exploring this theme through hands-on experiences, creativity, and plenty of curiosity-led learning.
At the moment, our focus is on Land, and what a perfect time to begin—spring has officially arrived! The children have been busy observing the changes in the world around them, truly embracing our Early Years vision to be explorers. They’ve been noticing new growth, discussing what they see, and asking wonderful questions about nature.
To celebrate the beauty of spring, the children have also been exploring representations of blossom and seasonal change through art. Inspired by these observations, they have been creating their own “mini-Monet masterpieces,” expressing themselves creatively while developing their artistic skills.
A great way to live out our curriculum vision statement for Early Years:
Be an explorer. Be a trier. Be a talker. Be a creator.

The children have also shown great enthusiasm planting spring flowers in our outdoor planters and sowing seeds in our Growing Plot. We are all very hopeful that our newly acquired scarecrow will keep the birds away!

We hope our new scarecrow keeps the birds away!

Indoors, we’ve also been planting beans, carefully watching for roots and shoots. The children are recording their observations in their very own Bean Diaries, encouraging them to be talkers as they describe changes and to be triers as they develop their pencil skills.
Is this a magic bean just like Jack's?

Our growing theme has been beautifully supported by our focus stories over the past two weeks—Jack and the Beanstalk and Jasper’s Beanstalk. The children have been thoroughly engaged, comparing our real-life beans to the magical stories and wondering if our beanstalks might grow just as tall! These discussions have sparked imagination and curiosity, helping the children to be creators in their storytelling and play.
We love stories!

It has been great to see the children so engaged, curious, and enthusiastic in their learning—truly living out our vision to be explorers, be triers, be talkers, and be creators every day.
