Pupil Voice in Practice

On Thursday, some of our Pupil Leadership Team led worship and shared the important work they have recently been doing around safeguarding and pupil voice.

Recently, School Council representatives conducted a safeguarding survey across the school, asking pupils where they feel safest and whether there are any spaces where they feel less comfortable. They carefully gathered responses, analysed the data and thoughtfully considered ways to further improve the already strong provision at St George’s.

This is a fantastic example of strong pupil leadership and the importance of listening.

You spoke. They listened.

As a result of the children’s feedback, our calming library space is now open every lunchtime, supported by our Year 5 librarians. We are also in the process of creating a calm nature space near the KS1 playground for all children to access and enjoy. In addition, we have spoken with the Premises Team about improving fencing in some areas of school, and this has now been ordered.

It was especially lovely to hear that children feel safe in their classrooms, on the playground and in the Inclusion Room — something we are incredibly proud of. The dining hall was also reviewed carefully by School Council, ensuring that children’s views continue to help shape school life.

We are so proud of our School Council team for leading with care, responsibility and compassion.
