A Slam Dunk Day Out at The O2 Arena

Children Enjoy Thrilling Basketball Finals Day at The O2 Arena
On Sunday 17th May 2026, 21 children enjoyed an unforgettable trip to the iconic The O2 to watch the 2026 Basketball Playoff Finals. The exciting day gave the children the opportunity to experience top-level professional basketball in an incredible atmosphere, with seats very close to the front allowing them to fully take part in all the action.
The trip perfectly reflected our school values of:
“We are fun.
We are together.”
From the moment the children arrived at the arena, there was a real sense of excitement, teamwork, and shared enjoyment as everyone came together to support their teams and enjoy a fantastic day out.
The day began with the women’s final between the Sheffield Hatters and the Caledonia Gladiators. The children were proudly supporting the Hatters and were treated to a thrilling match filled with drama and excitement. In a tense finish, Sheffield Hatters edged out Caledonia Gladiators 73–66 to claim victory, sparking huge celebrations from the children and fans around the arena.

During the breaks in play, the entertainment continued with energetic dancing performances and impressive basketball skill displays that kept the crowd engaged throughout the event.
The excitement then continued into the men’s final as the London Lions faced the Cheshire Phoenix. The London Lions delivered a dominant performance to win 104–81 in front of a loud and passionate crowd.

The trip was a fantastic opportunity for the children to experience professional sport live and become part of the electric atmosphere inside the arena. The children enthusiastically joined in with the cheering, crowd chants, and big-screen activities throughout the day. Showing that “We are fun”, many of the children threw themselves into the entertainment and even appeared on the giant screens thanks to their excellent dance moves. At the same time, “We are together” could clearly be seen in the way the children celebrated together and represented the school so positively throughout the day.
