Safe, Smart and Secure Online

This week, Year 5 had a valuable and engaging visit from PC Harriet, who spoke to the children about staying safe and confident when using the online world.

The session focused on responsible use of phones, social media, and apps, helping pupils understand how to make positive choices when communicating and sharing online. PC Harriet also introduced age-appropriate awareness of artificial intelligence (AI), encouraging children to think carefully about how digital tools work and how to stay safe, sensible, and in control when using them.

A strong emphasis was placed on practical ways to keep ourselves safe online, including being mindful of what we share, knowing who to talk to if something doesn’t feel right, and using trusted adults for support and guidance.

This visit supported our ongoing work of reinforcing the importance of staying safe while enjoying the benefits of technology.

At our school, our culture statement is:

We are fun. We are together.

This was reflected throughout the session as pupils engaged positively and showed respect for one another’s ideas and experiences.

Our learning also linked perfectly with the calls to action in our RSHE curriculum vision statement:

Be healthy. Be safe. Be resilient.
