Equal Eagles Workshop – Celebrating Diversity and Equality

Over the past few weeks, Year 5 have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the Equal Eagles workshop programme delivered by Crystal Palace Sports Club. Each session, led by Coach Terry, encouraged pupils to think deeply about important topics such as celebrating diversity, challenging stereotypes, recognising fake news and images, standing up against discrimination, Black Lives Matter, and equality for all.

Through a range of engaging discussions, games and group activities, the children explored what these topics mean, why they are important and how they can make a positive difference in their school and wider community. Pupils especially enjoyed sharing their own ideas, listening respectfully to others and working together to solve challenges.

For their final piece of work, each group created a colourful summary poster, showcasing everything they had learned throughout the programme. Their posters included key messages about inclusion, fairness and respect, as well as practical ways to help others and promote understanding within our school community.

Year 5 have embraced every session with enthusiasm and maturity. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they discuss important issues and become advocates for equality and kindness. We are incredibly proud of the thoughtful ideas they have shared and the positive attitudes they continue to show every day.

This has certainly helped us live out the calls to action in our curriculum vision statement for RSHE:

Be healthy. Be safe. Be resilient.
