On Friday 2nd October 2026, St George’s proudly took part in the Year 6 Football competition as part of the Lewisham School Games, held at St Dunstan’s Jubilee.

We took a squad of nine Year 6 boys, who represented St George’s incredibly well from the very first whistle. The boys showed determination, passion and teamwork throughout the competition, putting everything they had into every match.

And what a start they had! Win after win saw the team progress through the competition, with some incredible football on display. There were fantastic goals, brilliant attacking play and some truly incredible saves from our goalkeeper, who played a huge part in keeping the team in the competition.

With every game, the boys grew in confidence. They encouraged one another, supported their teammates and never gave up — even when the pressure was on. Their hard work and togetherness saw them reach the semi-final.

The semi-final was another fantastic display of teamwork and passion. The boys fought for every ball, defended together and attacked with purpose. Their determination paid off, and they secured their place in the final!

The final was a thrilling and closely fought match. Sadly, the boys narrowly missed out on the gold medal, but there was certainly no reason to hang their heads. They had given everything, and they came home proudly with a well-deserved silver medal. 🥈

More importantly, the boys demonstrated exactly what it means to live our St George’s P.E. values:

Be passionate.

Be respectful.

Be determined.

A huge well done to our nine footballers for representing St George’s with such pride. You should all be incredibly proud of what you achieved.

Silver medal winners — and champions in teamwork, passion and determination! 🥈⚽

We are so proud of you!
