Amazing Absorption!

Today in Benjamin Class, we had a brilliant time conducting an experiment all about absorption!

Be academic.

Be curious.

Be practical.

In science, we have been learning all about the properties of everyday materials. Today, we learnt that absorption means to suck up liquid. We were curious to find out which materials would be most absorbent.

We predicted which of our four materials would absorb the most water quickest: tissue, paper towel, printer paper or sugar paper. Our method would be to dip the materials into the water bowl at the same time to ensure a fair test. Then, we would wait and see which material absorbed liquid to the lines we had fairly drawn to measure the rate of absorption.

We were so excited to see that tissue was the more absorbent- the water reached the line almost immediately!

Benjamin Class are determined to keep experimenting with new and different materials as we progress with our science lessons this half-term!
