Meals and Memories are made here!

Year 3 have had fun linking their RE learning with Food technology this half term.

The taste, smell, and texture of food can be extraordinarily evocative, bringing back memories not just of eating food itself but also of place and setting. Food is an effective trigger of deeper memories of feelings and emotions, internal states of the mind and body.

In the last two weeks of the Spring half-term, Year 3 have been making connections, meals and memories in their learning, both in RE and DT.

First, we learnt about the importance of the Seder meal for Jewish people. In the Seder meal, each component has a defined role to remind the Jewish people of slavery in Egypt and the Passover.

We learnt about what each part of the meal represents and even had a go at tasting the unleavened Matzo bread (because the Jews had to leave so fast, their bread did not have time to rise) with a drop of grape juice (symbolising the joy of God).

Next, we finished this half-term's DT topic; What makes a balanced diet, by exploring pressure and seasoning whilst making delicious three-flavoured pop-corn! Ask us about which was our favourite!

We have truly personified the vision to:

Be curious

Be informed

Be hands on

Wishing everyone a happy half-term with lots of new connections and memories, both in and out of the kitchen!
