Platform Cricket: the Finals!

To complete the Platform cricket scheme, Year 4 attended the end of year competition.

On Friday 9th June, children from Year 4 went to Mayow park to participate in the end of year cricket competition by Platform Cricket. The company had been working with children in year 4 for a term, teaching them all the different skills of cricket, including: batting, fielding and bowling.

Many children then joined the club after school on a Thursday to continue their cricket development and have expressed a true love for the sport. It is great to see children being exposed to so many sports and given the opportunity to get quality coaching from professionals!

To complete the scheme, all the schools who participated then took part in the fun, yet competitive tournament at Mayow Park. We took 3 teams to the competition, who all showed our PE values brilliantly.

Be passionate.

Be respectful.

Be determined.

The teams played against every school in their group, then the top teams from each group went onto the knockout stages of semi-finals and then the finals. The quality of cricket from all over the park was incredible and the pupils from St George's really showed their fantastic skills. At the end of the rounds, the standings were: 'C' team - 4th place, 'B' team - 2nd place and 'A' team - 2nd place. The 'A' team scored the same points as the school that went through, but narrowly missed out on runs scored. Well done to everyone who took part!

A special mention to Ibrahim, who won the 'Most Valuable Player' award. What an incredible achievement!

Thank you so much to Platform Cricket for this incredible opportunity and a brilliant competition. We look forward to continuing next year!
